It's a new faction with 8 story missions, 6 of which are your traditional building a dungeon and conquering the overworld. The first mission mainly sets the story and is over fast. The last mission is just to show off your uber power and murdinate everyone. I will warn you, however, that the difficulty of these missions are higher than the base game, but not overwhelmingly so. I would caution against exploring your dungeon too fast as you can run into things like spider\/dragon nests that will send waves to your dungeon core. There was one mission where I just discovered far too many of those nests as well as new entrances to my dungeon and got overwhelmed. That mission I had to restart. Then also the 7th mission took me 2 or 3 tries before beating it. The rest I was able to beat in one try. Several of the missions also have little neat mechanics unique to their map. For instance in one map the alliance will rebuild outposts. In another you're competing with the chaotic evil, and ultimate evil, so you can enter their dungeon and destroy their dungeon core. So in short, it's more fun with similar gameplay but some unique mechanics in specific maps. If you enjoyed the base game, you'll enjoy this expansion, just remember that it is harder than the base game.. Big new campaign thats just as good as the main one. Brand new Undead faction with some unique twists to it - hero unit and a powerful, easy to manage resurrection system. Same snarky narrator. If you enjoyed the base game, you'll for sure enjoy this! With the improved performance that came with the free 1.5 patch I can now heartily recommend this game and its expansion "A Game of Winter"!. This DLC is TERRIBLY balanced. You will walk through the first 3 missions then the 4th is a nightmare. It's a classic "look up the tactics on goolgle then do that to win" rather than having fun playing your way. After that it's nice and easy up until the final mission, where again the balance is non-existent. Rather disappointing considering the base game was really good. Sure it wasn't hard, but they could have put a basic difficulty slider in for those massochists out there instead of having a couple of random nightmare levels thrown in to what may have otherwise been a decent jaunt.. This add on is very difficult and not like the origional game at all. You are forced to have multiple saves and follow a specific style to be able to complete the missions. Unless you want to do hundreds of restarts until you know exactly what is going to happen this DLC is not for you. You could open a room that has a spider spawner in it that will kill all your creatures no to mention the constant incursions into your dungeons. Not fun anymore!. This DLC adds the undead as a playable faction. The undead faction do everything very slowly, its actually quite dull waiting for them most of the time. Also the amount of research and building needed to get your dungeon defendable leaves you an easy target in the campaign which throws assaults at you almost immediately before you stand any real chance of putting up any defence at all.So you end up scraping through in an less than exciting set of campaign missions. Unfortunately the missions are difficult because they require prior knowledge in order to win, knowledge you can only get by losing a few times. This to me says the missions where not very well designed or heavily play tested and i think it shows in the campaign which is not as good as the main games campaign. Is it worth getting for the undead faction, honestly, no, they are very weak and the initial start requirements before you can hold your own rather large.. I personally like the base building part of RTS games the most. This game squares the depth and fun of managing your base (traps, rooms, exploring underground, upgrading, etc), while still containing solid top-world RTS mechanics I've come to know. It is very humorous, colorful, and detailed. I just finished the main campaign, bought the expansion and will play it soon.If you like traps, building, exploring, upgrading, battles, magic, satire, etc... I highly recommend it!. Very good DLC adding a new race and a campaign comparable to the base game in length. The difficulty is up, which seems to put some people off, but then one could argue the base game was too easy. You have to plan your moves now. All units in the undead roster have a reason, and now you also have to use spells and timing. E.g. If you want your units to heal, you have to plague the enemy first and give it a few seconds to spread, then every kill heals your units. When dealing with mages you have to use your mana troops to teleport and stab them in the back to remove them, otherwise they'll do tons of damage. When dealing with the bosses you have to move your troops around to minimise area of effect damage. Etc.Is it more complex? Yes. But I think that adds to fun and satisfaction when beating the game. The story is fun and the humour like in the original. If you liked it, you won't be disappointed.Thumbs up and hoping for Dungeons 3.. If you can get this DLC at a sale for less than 10 bucks, get it.+ New race is fun+ ...which also comes with absolutely great description texts+ Some new Campaign with its skirmish levelsFor full price (currently 15\u20ac), however I think this is overpriced. The race can be seen during the campaign, so some stuff (if not all?) was essentially already in there. The new compaign levels are gone fast, too. As skirmish levels they are okayish, too, but I feel the Undead share the same "problem" as the Deamons: hard at the beginning, as the tank creature needs the forge-like room first. Afterwards pretty easy to beat the level, too.TL;DRGrab on sale for all Dungeon fans but think about it twice the rest of the time.
